Summer of Answers: How have you changed?

Before I was a mom, I thought first about myself, then about others.  Now, it’s the other way around.  Not just generally speaking, but every thought, every decision, every move. It messes with
your head sometimes when you have to think of everything, like catching every potential choking hazard which may or may not be within reach before leaving ANY room.

Before I was a mom, I had no idea what the job would entail, even though in my mind I was completely prepared and knew everything I needed to know.  HA HA I was a dumb ass. What’s that old adage?… You learn something new every day?  Spot on. Recently I took a career personality quiz. I am happy I did this as it not only tells what your personality type is, but also suggests the most suitable occupations for your type of person. It was actually fun to discover that all the way I am “a doer”  so somebody who likes to work with hands etc. It’s pretty much true.

Anyway, this test made me think and I decided to answer more questions about myself. Here we go:!

  1. Have your looks changed much since you were a child?
  2. Does your family have a game they always pull out at get-togethers?
  3. What things did you like about summer as a child?
  4. And what things do you like about summer now?
  5. What 5 songs get you in the mood to party?
  6. What time do you normally get to bed?
  7. What was your last dream about?
  8. Is confidence important in life?
  9. “The bigger the better” – how true is this?
  10. What picture is in the first photo frame you can see?
  1. Have your looks changed much since you were a child?
Obviously, but not dramatically. You can still tell it’s me in old photographs, but my eyes changed from blue to brown and my eyebrows are less bushy – tweezers saved my life, people!
  1. Does your family have a game they always pull out at get-togethers?
We always get the bumper quiz books out, or Trivial Pursuit. We’re not a family for Charades or Pictionary – we’re all about education
  1. What things did you like about summer as a child?
Being able to play out with my friends until late, and getting into my paddling pool in the garden. Thankfully my birthday is on July 6th so I always used to enjoy my parties in the garden with bouncy castles, and barbecues!
  1. And what things do you like about summer now?
The light nights, the smiles on people’s faces, and the music – why does music get better in the summer? Everything just seems much more light hearted and relaxed. Unless it involves moving house, but I’ve banned myself from thinking about it.
  1. What 5 songs get you in the mood to party?
Hot Hot Hot (i.e. olé, olé, olé, olé!), Sex on the Beach, anything by Cher (don’t snigger!), anything by Michael Jackson, and YMCA.
  1. What time do you normally get to bed?
It differs depending on if I’m working the next day – if I’m not then I hit the pit between 1 am and 2 am. If I’m working it’s usually 12 am and 1 am. I’m a complete night owl.
  1. What was your last dream about?
I don’t normally dream but last night I did – it was bizarre. I don’t know what I was doing but I was in a huge hotel, and I was looking for an old man on the top floor who could help me with something. My nanna found me, and told me I wasn’t allowed to find him so I went downstairs to the bar. All of my friends were there, and as we were leaving a very tall man came and started chatting us up. He looked like John Travolta only with more muscles, and younger. He wouldn’t leave us alone, and I asked him which one of us he wanted and he said, “You.” and then I woke up. What does this mean?!
  1. Is confidence important in life?
In the right places, yes. For your job it’s very important – you need to have confidence in your abilities, and also in your colleagues. When I had my final appraisal for my placement this week, my boss praised my confidence so I suppose it’s a good thing. In other situations you need to be careful – I’m confident anyway, but I know when and where to tone it down.
  1. “The bigger the better” – how true is this?
Well, it depends who or what you’re talking about. I’ll leave it there.
  1. What picture is in the first photo frame you can see?
Me and my lovely friend, Sarah. She gave me the photo on my birthday last year, and I love it :
